Renato Crouzeilles is a Ph.D. in Ecology (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ) and developed part of it in the University of Queensland and the Australian National University. He has experience in Ecology, with an emphasis on Forest Landscape Restoration, spatial prioritization and Conservation Biology. His focus is to reconcile environmental management with public policies at different spatial scales to be applied in actions related to biodiversity conservation, forest restoration, and adaptive management. He is currently an associate at the International Institute for Sustainability (IIS) in Rio de Janeiro, collaborator lecture at the post-graduate program in Ecology at UFRJ and lecture at the Center for Conservation Science and Sustainability Rio. He is part of the coordinating committee of the Atlantic Forest Restoration Pact (Pacto) and coordinates the Geospatial working group of the Pacto. He is one of the founders of the Synthesis Group on Ecology and Sustainability of the Atlantic Forest (SES-MA). He works mainly in the development of scientific research focused on spatial prioritization of large-scale restoration and global meta-analyses on the success of forest restoration. He has also supported governments, states and international NGOs in decision-making on sustainable land use.
